Subject: Jerry's Bday....monster show!

Then there's the performance. I don't know that the Dead got much better in 1988. The show sizzles from start to end with many highlights. A great Bird Song closes out the first set. It's hard to believe Foolish Heart was still in its infancy. It feels like an old classic. The Terrapin will melt your brain. So will the Dew. The Other One is also pretty trippy.

The show is pretty even with a fairly basic '88 setlist. David Hildalgo is a nice treat. Start Your Engines was fun to see, but with lyric like the girl in the pinafore dress you can see reasons why for it to have only been played twice. Bird Song is furious at times with Bob playing real fast chord progressions.
The second set is all about The Other One. Not much of a space, but rather a long build into the first verse. You will never complain about a Dew and the Midnight encore was a nice touch. I am playing Terrapin thru Dew (except Drums) on my radio show this week. Peace
